Learning from a chronologically gifted view

Professional development is one thing. You sit in a desk, do some group activities, maybe have some discussion, and drink your coffee while it’s hot. And you get paid to do that instead of your day job.

But being  forced back to university when one is pushing 40 is a humbling experience. I spent too much time in the last 6 years on maternity leave, and not enough time actually working. When my 1400h/5 year requirement ended up being just over 1000, my proffessional college said it’s university upgrading or no license.

So, I’m spending the next year to 18 months doing school online, and being a stay at home homemaker. It’s interesting, I couldn’t have done online as a younger person, or even at all before My ADHD diagnosis and treatment. It’s not an easy thing even now. But it’s not my whole life, and the difference between a C+ and an A is actually irrelevant. (Even though my pride says otherwise.) The point is to finish the program, on an efficient timeline, and go back to work so my family  can have the life we want to have.

That’s it for today. I did indeed spend yesterday enjoying my family. Today I managed to get a couple hours of studying in. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving here in Canada.

See you then.
