Happier

I had a friend send me an article by Gretchen Rubin about parenting calmer. I was thrilled, because of the nine suggestions I found that I already regularly use the first five, and the other four are things I have been working on. It gives me validation, but also encourages me to keep going.

I love that I have found my people through audio books and podcasts…. Like, singing with your kids in the morning as a mood booster? Fantastic! I do it all the time, and clearly I’m not the only one. Make them laugh helplessly until they fall on the floor? Absolutely amazing, thanks for the reminder Gretchen.

Other things I’ve learned: Pay yourself first, break down difficult tasks into small enough steps that you barely feel like you’re actually doing anything. Do the dishes. Do one load of laundry a day. Declutter things you don’t need. It’s ok to throw things away. Do things that scare you. Don’t wait to do something you love. Use your life as inspiration. Do what works for you, stuff doesn’t always work for you like it does for other people. Don’t be afraid to be imperfect.

Read books guys, so worth It. I’ve learned so much about myself. I’m not afraid to fail, and I’m leaning to not fear success. I look forward to who I’m going to be, yes even though middle age is looming.

Short post today but I just had to say something about my love of self help books.

I’m going to spend at least two hours studying today. I’m also going to vacuum the living room floor.
